Romano was one of the busiest closers in baseball before the Blue Jays hit their rough stretch earlier this month.

The native of Markham, Ont., has appeared in 16 games and has a record of 1-2 with a 3.07 ERA this season. He is 12-for-14 in save situations.

Romano last pitched on Saturday, throwing the final inning in a win over the Tampa Bay Rays.

The Romano news was the second potential health setback of the day for the Blue Jays bullpen. Earlier, Tim Mayza was placed on the 15-day injured list with forearm inflammation.
