Rangers get Goodrow back for Game 6 against Hurricanes

Faced with a win-or-go-home game, the New York Rangers got Barclay Goodrow back into the lineup on Saturday night for Game 6 against the Carolina Hurricanes.

Goodrow, who had not played since Game 1 of the Rangers’ first-round series against Pittsburgh, had missed 11 post-season games and was not expected to play. At least not according to his coach, Gerard Gallant, who had said he did not expect the winger to play until Game 7 at the earliest.

It’s been reported that Goodrow suffered a fractured left ankle when blocking a shot early in Game 1 against the Penguins. Whatever the injury, it did not stop him from finishing the game, which went into triple-overtime.

Kevin Rooney came out of the lineup to make room for Goodrow on the fourth line. The Hurricanes did not make any lineup changes for the game.
