Lainey Wilson Shines Bright with Style and Nominations at the 2023 CMA Awards
Lainey Wilson, the country sensation with a record nine nominations at the 2023 CMA Awards, has a style as distinctive as her music. Despite the glitz and glamour of the music industry’s biggest night, Wilson stayed true to her love of bell bottoms, but with a festive twist that turned heads.

Bell Bottoms and Black Satin Ruffles – A Winning Combo
Wilson strutted her stuff in a black strapless jumpsuit with mega-flare legs adorned with black satin ruffles. If that wasn’t enough to make a statement, she crowned her ensemble with a matching cowboy hat and some eye-catching jewelry.
In August, Wilson gave us the inside scoop on her fashion sense, “I thought, ‘What could I wear that would make me feel like I could take on the whole dang world?’ For me, it’s bell-bottoms.”
Now, you might be thinking, “Bell-bottoms, really?” Yes, really. The retro style has become a staple on the red carpets, all thanks to Wilson. She rocked bell-bottoms at the inaugural People’s Choice Country Awards and also at the 2023 ACM Awards, where she debuted her new beau, Devlin ‘Duck’ Hodges. And guess what, Hodges was right there with her at the CMA Awards, perfectly coordinated in all black.
Velvet Vibes at Last Year’s CMA Awards
If you think this is a one-time thing, you’re in for a surprise. Last year, she donned a velvet version of the look at the CMA Awards, where she celebrated her six nominations – more than anyone else that year. What’s the secret to her success? Maybe it’s the bell-bottoms!
Tonight, Wilson is leading the pack again with more nominations than any other artist.
Double Delight for Lainey Wilson
Before the awards ceremony, the Country Music Association bestowed two early wins on Wilson. Her collaboration with HARDY on “Wait in the Truck” won the musical event of the year and music video of the year.
Wilson isn’t stopping there. She’s also in the running for female vocalist of the year and entertainer of the year. Not to forget, she’ll be taking the stage to perform alongside other fantastic artists like Kelsea Ballerini and Morgan Wallen.
Speaking about her incredible journey, Wilson said, “It’s like a continuous leveling up this year. As soon as we reach a certain place and we’ve kind of arrived, it seems like we almost have to shift immediately and level up another way.”
From a Camper Trailer to Center Stage
Lainey Wilson’s story is as remarkable as her fashion choices. She moved to Nashville in a camper trailer back in 2011 and lived there for three years while she tirelessly handed out demos and CDs up and down Music Row. Fast forward to today, and she’s one of country music’s brightest stars.
“I grew up in a town where country music is life: We eat, sleep, and breathe it,” Wilson told us. “I have loved it with my entire heart, and I feel like country music is finally starting to love me back.”
Don’t Miss the 2023 CMA Awards
So, be sure to tune in to the 2023 CMA Awards, hosted by Luke Bryan and Peyton Manning. It’s going down live from Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena on Nov. 8 at 8 p.m. ET on ABC. If you can’t catch it then, don’t worry; you can stream it exclusively on Hulu the following day.
As for Lainey Wilson, she’ll probably be the one in the stunning bell-bottoms, stealing the show and our hearts once again. Yeehaw!
