Unveiling the Global Cardiovascular Research Funders Forum Data Challenge

The objective of this data challenge is to identify gaps in research funding for cardiovascular and stroke science. Participants will be tasked with addressing the question: How can organizations effectively allocate funding to drive discoveries and enhance the quality of life through cardiovascular and stroke research?
Dr. David Tancredi, President of the Leducq Foundation and a member of the Global Cardiovascular Research Funders Forum, emphasized the importance of leveraging artificial intelligence and data analytics to analyze cardiovascular and stroke research programs. The goal is to discern successful strategies, areas of improvement, and existing gaps to enhance the effectiveness of research organizations.
Success in this challenge will be measured by various factors, including the acquisition of additional funding, achievement of stated objectives, exploration of new research avenues, and impact on human health. Researchers will analyze grant funding data provided by Forum member organizations, in conjunction with their institutional data, using the American Heart Association’s Precision Medicine Platform. This cloud-based system facilitates collaborative analysis of large datasets in a secure environment, leveraging the power of machine learning.
Proposals for the challenge must be submitted by June 10, 2024. The winner will be awarded a $20,000 USD cash prize, with second and third place receiving $5,000 USD each.
