According to Fichajes, Manchester United is seriously contemplating entering the race for Viktor Gyokeres in the summer. The club’s manager, Erik ten Hag, had reportedly desired the Swedish striker in the January transfer window. However, the high asking price at that time hindered any potential move to Old Trafford. Now, with the summer window approaching, Manchester United may revive their interest, although they will face competition from Chelsea.

Erik ten Hag, having successfully secured Rasmus Hojlund in a significant transfer last summer, is reportedly seeking a complementary striker to enhance the team’s forward line. Gyokeres had been on their radar before the January window due to his robust playing style, which could contribute to the team’s build-up play.

Gyokeres comes with a hefty €100 million release clause, a factor that deterred clubs from pursuing him in the January transfer window. Sporting CP, recognizing the player’s outstanding season with 29 goals and 11 assists in all competitions, is unlikely to negotiate for anything less than the release clause.

Manchester United is contemplating initiating talks for the €100 million-rated striker when the summer window opens. However, the Red Devils may face stiff competition from Chelsea, who are also in pursuit of Gyokeres. Chelsea, in their search for a new striker, have prioritized Victor Osimhen but are considering Gyokeres as an alternative option.

While Osimhen remains Chelsea’s top target, complications could arise, leading them to consider Gyokeres, especially if they are unwilling to meet the €100 million valuation for the Sporting CP star. The competition for Gyokeres is expected to be fierce, and the outcome will likely depend on the strategies and priorities of both Manchester United and Chelsea in the upcoming transfer window.
