Is This Innovative Electric RV a Camper Van or a Transforming Marvel?

AC Future, in collaboration with renowned Italian design partner Electric RV Pininfarina, is boldly venturing into the future of recreational vehicles and campers with its Electric Transformer House (eTH) unveiled at CES 2024. A brainchild of the Silicon Valley and Orange County startup, AC Future, and the iconic design house Pininfarina, the eTH is not your typical camper—it’s a vision of luxurious, smart, and eco-friendly living on the move.

The 20-foot-long, 11-foot-high Electric Transformer House lives up to its name by converting into a 400-square-foot mobile living space with sleeping arrangements for four, thanks to button-activated “expandable walls” or advanced slide-outs. These walls, composed of flexible slats, provide design flexibility and allow for a spacious bedroom, dining area, and kitchen.

The interior of the eTH is a marvel of collapsible and modular furniture, offering a bathroom, kitchen, and sleeping provisions. The design emphasizes spaciousness, with customizable neutral color palettes and clean simplicity. While specific details about the electric/internal combustion platform remain undisclosed, AC Future estimates an impressive 19,000-pound GVWR.

The eTH is designed to be a multi-scenario solution, adaptable to various “mobile lifestyles” such as a traditional RV, complementary residence space, ADU, mobile home, mobile workspace, and more. AC Future envisions the eTH as a versatile and flexible solution to cater to the dynamic needs of users.

In terms of off-grid living capabilities, the eTH is equipped for short-distance adventures, boasting seven days of off-grid capabilities. Solar panels covering the roof and slide-outs generate approximately 25 kWh, supplemented by an Atmospheric Water Generator system that converts air moisture into clean water.

Starlink connectivity ensures reliable satellite internet on the go. While AC Future has ambitious plans for the eTH, including a Beta prototype after the virtual reality reveal at CES and projected mass production in the fourth quarter of 2025, potential customers will need to exercise patience as they await this futuristic camping revolution.
