Caban emphasized the passion of his executives in defending their respective bureaus but acknowledged that not all the postings may reflect the agency’s overall stance.

While top NYPD officials like Chief of Patrol John Chell and Deputy Commissioner Kaz Daughtry have been vocal in criticizing individuals online, Caban highlighted the need for recognition of the department’s efforts, lamenting that their work often goes unnoticed.

He cited a decline in crime rates as evidence of the officers’ dedication and effectiveness.

Regarding concerns about rank-and-file officers emulating their superiors’ social media behavior, Caban expressed confidence that they would not engage in similar actions, which could lead to disciplinary action. He referenced a recent incident where Chief Chell apologized for mistakenly identifying a Bronx judge in a social media post.
